How to Enable Gzip Compression on Blogger To Increase Load Speed

Post a Comment

When anyone starts a blog, they usually use Blogger as the platform. Because it is very easy and free. Even if you have started a blog or have already created one, the problem is that whenever you check your loading speed in the page speed tool, your scores are extremely low.

So you might feel frustrated about it and try to find a way to decrease load time and increase the speed of the blog. And it is essential, because every website that more than 3 second to load doesn't rank well, and if it gets ranked, it will fall in the ranking just because of the speed factor.

There are many ways to increase page speed, such as lazy loadings images, removing blogger default widget, fonts, etc. From them, I discussed gzip compression that can increase page speed to a certain extent. After applying or enabling gzip compression to a blogger blog, you will notice a significant speed increase.

I am sure that you are in a hurry to enable, but before you go ahead and enable, let's see what gzip compression is.

What is Gzip Compression?

Gzip is a file format or software designed to compress the content of a website by up to 80%. It delivers the compressed format of the website to the visitor. Compression increases page load speeds. Gzip compression can handle files up to 4 GB in size. This means it will compress files that are less than 4 GB.

In technical terms, it refers to a program or file that compresses the HTTP content before it is transferred to the client.

So it is the definition of gzip compression. Let's enable it on the blogger to make the blog run faster than before.

How to enable Gzip Compression in Blogger.

1) Go the blogger.com.

2) In the Sidebar, select Theme.

3) Next to the customise button, click the "Drop-Down icon".

4) From the drop-down options, click on the "Edit HTML" option.

5) Copy and paste the code below, just below this  <!DOCTYPE html>

<?php if (substr_ count($_SERVER['HTTP_ACCEPT_ENCODING'],'gzip'))ob_start("ob_gzhandler");else ob_ start();?>

6) Then click on save.

Once you have followed these steps correctly, Gzip compression will be enabled on your blog.

To check whether it is enabled or not, you can put your URL on this website.

I hope you are able to enable gzip compression on your blog.
